There’s no denying it: Miami’s indie music scene is on the up-and-come. Ambassadors of Magic City tuneage are the Jacuzzi Boys, Rachel Goodrich, and ANR (formerly known as Awesome New Republic). They’re all out reppin’ the 305 brand around America’s red, white, and blue. Like parents of children gone off to a far-away liberal arts university, we’re mad proud of our indie music offspring for pouring their blood, sweat, and testicles into the make-it-or-break-it world known as the record industry. We’re so proud, in fact, that when they come home to visit, we celebrate their arrival with a good old-fashioned concert. After ANR released the single “Stay Kids,” a promotional tour has taken the bandmates everywhere from Austin to Montreal to Chicago and everywhere in between. They played a bunch of sets at South by Southwest and a few gigs at colleges around the Northeast, and are heading across the pond in mid-May for a series of shows in the UK. However, before they do, the boys of ANR will bring their magic back to Miami for a show at the Vagabond this Friday as part of the lounge’s weekly party. There’ll be hipsters, drink specials, pretty people, and kick-ass Miami indie music.
