Calvin Harris is a chart-topping pop superstar in the UK. In America, the Scottish singer-songwriter, record producer, and DJ gets a bit of a blank stare. Why? We arent sure. With tracks such as The Girls, Acceptable in the 80s, and Im Not Alone, he has definitely proved hes able to compose killer hooks. Plus his boyish good looks and sugary melodies probably earn him instant panty-dropper status with the ladies.
So why hasnt Harris achieved success stateside? That might have something to do with a lack of major-label support and poor marketing. Though he enjoys the backing of Columbia Records and EMI in Europe, hes relegated to the smaller Ultra Records on this side of the pond. But its only a matter of time before the majors realize their error. This Saturday at Mansion soak up Harris before MTV does. All youll get from him this time is a DJ set, but considering hes more than adept behind the decks, thats a good thing.
