The first two years of Iron Fork were sell-outs. This year, the culinary event will be bigger and better. New Times' massive foodie party returns for a third time, taking over the downtown event space/nightclub Grand Central (697 N. Miami Ave., Miami) this Thursday. Last year's Chef Challenge Finals winner John Critchley (of Area 31) will battle Jose Luis Flores of De Rodriguez Restaurant Group. Each chef will have to whip up something tasty, using a basket of ingredients as well as one secret ingredient. Miami restaurants such as Chef Allen’s, Taverna Opa, and dozens more will provide delectable bites, and there'll be drinks by Famosa Beer, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, and Bombay Sapphire. Also that night, New Times will hand out the first-ever Short Order Awards for Best Chef, Best Up & Coming Chef, Best Pastry Chef, Best Restaurant, Best Mixologist, and Best Plate. Good food and drink will be paired with live music by Barefoot & Brendon and DJ Mike featuring Jon Saxx. The party starts at 6 p.m. and tickets cost $35 pre-sale, $45 at the door, and $65 for VIP.
