The Dance Now Ensemble is like the June Cleaver-meets-Courtney Love of local dance troupes. Now in its seventh season, the traditional yet edgy group presents Donne: Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Lovers, a performance that spans the history of dance from classical ballet to avant-garde. Its perfect fusion of modern dance, jazz, ballet, and yoga creates a visually enthralling expression that is only matched by the director’s eclectic musical selections.

Donne translated from Italian means female, which gets to the heart of this performance. Co-choreographers Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini were inspired by the intimate stories woven by the predominantly female company. Spanning the themes of love, marriage, births, deaths, and struggle, DonneFeb. 17-18, 7 p.m.
