In Western minds there is some odd connection between Buddha and ninjas. Uh, theyre both, um, not Western? Actually another connection is made this week through two way-cool events, one in the name of the seeker of all truth and the other deploying little plastic ass kickers in service of a pursuit equally spiritual. From the Land of the Buddha is a classical concert performed by Project Copernicus as part of Arts at St. Johns (St. Johns on the Lake, 4760 Pine Tree Dr., Miami Beach). The 8:00 p.m. program will feature new works by young composers inspired by things Eastern. Tickets cost $20; $15 for students, seniors, and people who buy them online at www.artsatstjohns.com. Call 305-613-2325.
As for the ninjas, theyre tiny, theyre plastic, and theyre articulating teachings of Talmud. A national phenom, Tiny Ninja Talmud Theater is the giddy brainstorm of puppet master Dov Weinstein, who brings his work to the Moore Building (4040 NE Second Ave., Miami) for shows at 9:15 and 11:15. Tickets cost $18, which includes a meet-and-greet, at which you can ask Weinstein what in hell he was thinking (and why you didnt think of it first). Call 305 538-7231, or visit www.sobejewish.org.
