Perhaps a visit to the ballet could add a new facet to your already sparkling personality. Miami City Ballets 2007-2008 season opens at the Carnival Center with George Balanchines sumptuous ballet Jewels. If youve limited yourself, assuming ballet is just a little tutu, we highly encourage a sampling of this glamorous bauble.
Famed New York jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels piqued Mr. Balanchines creativity for this three-act full-length production. Emeralds is languorously elegant, with music by Fauré; Rubies is accompanied by a spirited Stravinsky jazz essay; and Diamonds is a formally perfect ballet set to Tchaikovskys music. A talk by Edward Villella or other artistic staff members will be free to those with tickets 45 minutes prior to performance. So pile on your bestest jewelry and twirl over to the Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts this afternoon at 2:00.
