Let’s face it -- there aren’t many reasons to see the Miami Heat right now. The games are meaningless, and without Wade, the prospects of playing spoiler to playoff bubble teams are slim to laughable. Tonight the New Orleans Hornets come to town, and we should all pay attention (as they likely hand us a brutal drubbing) to their franchise history for our own glimmer of hope.

In 2004-05, the Hornets were an 18-win team. Now, only a couple of seasons (and high draft picks) later, they’re contenders for the top spot in the conference. With Wade and Shawn Marion healthy next year, plus the addition of a top-flight hoopster from the draft, the Heat should be right back in the playoff picture. For now, though, let’s marvel at one of the most exciting young players in the game, Chris Paul, and find out what Marion can do as the lone star on the court at the American Airlines Arena.
