After 21 long months of living room campaigning, the time has finally come for us to cast our ballots and decide the next president of the United States. Yeah, you might be sick of hearing amazing speech after incredible oratory after electrifying discourse from Obama. And even your John McCain/T-Rex impersonation is getting old. But hey, get excited about the historic moment by watching Closer to the Dream, a film about a couple’s hope-driven migration to America.

American expat Guetty Felin and her French husband Hervé Cohen were inspired by our country’s newfound optimism, and they paint a compelling picture whether or not you’re a drinker of the Kool-Aid. By knitting together footage of Obama and citizen interviews, the directors deliver the raw emotion of those who can’t help but see a part of them in Barack. Catch the film’s U.S. premiere at the Miami Beach Cinematheque, 512 Espanola Way, Miami Beach. Showtimes are 7:45 and 9 p.m., but stay later for a Q&A session with the directors. Visit www.obama-closertothedream.ning.com. Tickets start at seven bucks.
