Alonzo Mourning is a warrior. His full-throttle, muscle-flexing, bad-ass, scowling, workmanlike approach as the Heats starting center won over fans from his first day. His drive and tenacity are legendary. Even when he was diagnosed with a rare and incurable kidney disease, you just knew Zo was going to confront the ailment like he did a basketball game with the ferocity of a lion. And that is exactly what he did making a miraculous comeback and finally earning that well-deserved championship ring with the Heat in 2006.
Mourning has been equally driven when giving back to the community and helping the needy with his eponymous charity foundation, raising more than $6 million for at-risk children. Now its all chronicled in his autobiography, Resilience: Faith, Focus, Triumph. Zo will sign copies at Books & Books at 2 p.m. Come meet the warrior and be inspired.
