The words Friday the 13th conjure up images of dudes donning hockey masks and wielding giant machetes to cleave up promiscuous teenagers. This Friday is February 13, and although said promiscuous youths will likely get to keep their nubile limbs intact, there will be dudes running around with hockey masks cutting up beats and pasting them together again during The Wicked: A Grave Rave. This weeks incarnation of the monthly party is getting a horror-themed overhaul to go with its backdrop of gothic, industrial, IDM, and metal tunes from more than a dozen DJs and artists from around the MIA.
So whos getting freaky on the floor? For starters, Miamis own ghetto-bass mastermind Otto Von Schirach will have a set. His tunes are a perfect match for the party too: Theyre full of creepy, bottomed-out vocals; sludgy bass lines; and playfully disturbing themes that make you want to simultaneously slink into a corner and hide and shake your ass on the dance floor. DJs Draculas Daughter, Lady Anime, Antichrist, Romulo Del Castillo, Nosaj, and Danny Bled will also be keeping shit lively on the decks, while fetish dancers Virus, Terror Doll, Intergalactic Sex Demon, and Satan's Kitten entertain with their sinful moves. (And with names like that, how bad could they be?) Of course, the night wouldnt be complete without special performances by Voodoo Witch Doctor, Thug Jesus, Notorious Nastie, and local filmmaker Aiden Dillard.
Will that many people even fit into PS14? Will chaos ensue? Find out beginning at 10 p.m.
