There are two ways to watch street-legal racing for free in Miami. One is to get an Interstate 95-facing room at the City Inn Hotel on 82nd Street, though the view is partially obscured by the giant Budweiser advertisement and every now and then three cops bust in looking for a dead transvestite hooker named Irma. The other is to head to Homestead-Miami Speedway this Saturday for the KONI Sports Car Challenge sponsored by Grand-Am Road Racing, but first make sure to hit up grand-am.com for your free ticket voucher, because otherwise its ten bucks at the gate.
Inside, the latest in international and American-made high-performance sports cars, coupes, and sedans will drive around the 2.3-mile, 11-turn road course until theres a winner. Even better, your ticket gets you full access to the garage and paddock area to meet the racing teams and annoy them with YouTube videos of your tricked-out 92 Prelude. The main race begins at 2:30 p.m., but gates open at 8:30 a.m., and the first practice run starts at 9.
