A potent brew of hoofers and hoodoo simmers under the stars at Miami Art Museum as part of MAM Summer Nights. Each second Thursday of the month, the museum organizes a harmonic convergence of the visual and performing arts in order to spice up its programming with sensory magic and ward off the dog days.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday, MAM will redefine performance art with "Re-visit, Re-vision, Re-verb," a series of edgy dance works making their world debut. The rhythmic routines were created by Ana Mendez from Psychic Youth Inc., Misha Nikitine from Seanik Arts, and Marc Spielberger from Miami City Ballet specifically for the Summer Nights program.
In addition, you can check out the ongoing exhibit NeoHooDoo: Art for a Forgotten Faith, which corrals an intergenerational group of artists who address ritual in the artistic process and the wider implications of spirituality in contemporary art.
