You cant find Chinese worth a damn, and forget landing on an Indian restaurant everyone can agree on. The good Caribbean and soul food is mostly on the north end of the county. Lucky for dwellers south of Dadeland, today is a brilliant day for binging, thanks to the
Deering Seafood Festival. For four years, this outdoor celebration of crustaceans and their be-gilled compadres has been bringing gourmands out to Old Cutler.
Beginning at 11 a.m., you can roll on down to the Deering Estate at Cutler for art, live music, and lots of grub. The Ruffhouse Jamaican Reggae Band and the Symphony of Steel will set the soundtrack while you enjoy Biscayne Bay boat rides aboard the
Pelican Skipper. Local celeb chefs from Ortanique and the River Oyster Bar will conduct cooking demos, and theres an artist village featuring paintings and crafts made by locals. Tickets cost $15, and the whole shebang ends at 6 p.m.
