Wear white after Labor Day? Thousands of gay men and women will commit that (admittedly outdated) fashion faux pas this week for the annual White Party, the largest and oldest HIV/AIDS fundraiser and LGBT circuit party. It began in 1985 as a benefit for Care Resource. And for the next 24 years, it was the party of all winter parties at Vizcaya. Because of high rental prices, however, this year’s soiree will take place at venues all over town.
Thursday marks the kickoff event, White Journey, at Score, with music by Hector Fonseca starting at 10 p.m. Tickets cost $20 presale and $25 at the door. Friday is the main event, the White Party, held at a private waterfront peninsula adjacent to Miami Seaquarium (4400 Rickenbacker Cswy., Key Biscayne). At 8 p.m., don hues of milk, snow, and ivory for fireworks, silent auctions, live casino games, and music by DJs Pagano and Joe Gauthreaux. Tickets cost $40 to $350. The festivities and fundraising will continue through Monday with pool parties at the host hotel, the National (1677 Collins Ave., Miami Beach), and the closing party, Swan Song, at Twist (1057 Washington Ave., Miami Beach).
