The waters surrounding Miami are speckled with spots of land -- isles owned by billionaires, others owned by the creatures that call them home. And just beyond those unnamed islands are the ones youve heard of: the Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad. But thanks to six-day work weeks and lightweight paychecks, the only taste of the islands you usually get is a cold Ting on a Tuesday afternoon. But tonight the Caribbean is coming to Chakra Lounge, a trip you can handle. The second annual Junefest is the ultimate celebration of Caribbean-American Heritage Month, an evening filled with the distinct flavors of the islands.
The rum will be flowing (yes, freely), Chef Creole will be preparing some of his famous Haitian cuisine, and the DJ will be spinning calypso, zouk, R&B, and hip-hop. And since it wouldnt be an massive island celebration without live music, the original Bad Boys, Inner Circle, will be hitting the stage, along with Erol Josué, Los Herederos, and the Code Red Band. The party starts at 9:00 p.m. Admission costs $30, $50 for VIP.
