Explaining your continued Miami Marlins fandom this season is like explaining why you keep dating that girl who’s clearly wrong for you. “But she’s got the best personality.” “She’s great in a bind.” “She’s always willing to give me a back massage.” Deep down, everyone knows she’s a mess, but focusing on a couple of things that make her special maintains a workable relationship.
Take the Marlins’ 2013 season so far. At least the team still has a beautiful stadium in Little Havana. Giancarlo Stanton still looks like the human version of a Greek statue (even though he’s on the disabled list). And, well, it really is a beautiful stadium.
Is there any hope of this team going anywhere this season? No way. But the nachos are delicious, and ticket prices are extremely reasonable — even for the first game of a home series against division rivals the Philadelphia Phillies, whom the Fish face Monday at 7:10 p.m. at Marlins Park (501 Marlins Way, Miami).
