Truly from the Heart
There are more than 1,500 children eligible for adoption in the state of Florida, of which an average of 37% will sit on a waiting list more than three years. The Children's Trust is hoping to lower that number with an initiative called The Children's Trust Miami Heart Gallery, which is fighting to seek adoptive parents for 58 children. From June 13 to July 12, the Freedom Tower will play gallery to museum-quality photography of these beautiful souls showcasing what else - their beautiful souls. Award-winning professional photographers have lent their time and their art to capture the spirit, hobbies, goals and dreams of these kids in hopes that families will look beyond the terms at-risk and special-needs, and simply see a new addition to their family. "More than half of the children showcased in the first year have either been adopted or are in the process of being adopted," said Modesto E. Abety, President and CEO of The Children's Trust. "So we have high hopes that we'll surpass this success rate in the second year of this initiative."
In addition to the photographers who have lent their time, artist Reality is creating a a work of his distinctive colorful, contemporary style. "I saw the kids, that they needed to be adopted - I found the energy inside of all those elements and found what I wanted to express."
