Did we wake up in the early 70s? The nation is polarized by internal rage and fierce divisions, American troops are caught in a never-ending conflict overseas, another Nixon is running for office (yup, Tricky Dicks grandson is making a bid in Connecticut), and James Taylor and Carole King are touring together.
Between the two musicians, theyve penned enough sentimental standards to supply a years worth of wedding songs, classic rock radio hits, barroom ballads, and back-seat sing-alongs. The duos recently released Live at the Troubadour offers an appropriate teaser for their live shows. Recorded during their 2007 reunion at L.A.s Sunset Strip, the album includes simpatico standards such as Fire and Rain, Its Too Late, Youve Got a Friend, and other tunes thatll inevitably encourage aging boomers to nod and smile with appreciation. Taylor and King play the BankAtlantic Center this Saturday at 8 p.m. as part of their Troubadour Reunion tour.
