Ten Under $10
Friday, November 6 *Like we recommended earlier today, the Jacobs Ladder EP release party at Churchill's in Miami tonight, where $10 entry also gets you a copy of the band's new disc. *And the similarly recommended Astari Nite, plus a million other bands, at White Room in Miami tonight. We're actually missing full details on cover but it's either free, or definitely $10 or less. It's awesome that White Room actually gives over a weekend night to live band instead of more DJs, so support it. *So Raw puts on another lo fi garage rock and roll show tonight, at the American Legion in Miami. Paying are the usual suspects: Jacuzzi Boys, Melted Sunglasses, and This Heart Electric, as well as Frenchies Yussuf Jerusalem. This truly fits the low-budget spirit of this post, because once you get in for free, it's not just the decor that's stuck in the past -- so are the drink prices. *As part of FLIFFl. Miami indie rockers Radioboxer play the Florida Filmmaker and Auteur Explosion party tonight at Cinema Paradiso in Fort Lauderdale. Admission is just $5, or free if you attend the Taste of Florida screening beforehand. *Femme Fest, a celebration of all music by the XX-chromosomed, starts tonight at Tobacco Road in Miami. Admission is $10. *Tap Tap, in Miami Beach, celebrates its 15th annual Fet Gede party tonight, and features live performances by Manno Charlemagne and his band, and Aboudja. (Random fun fact: Iggy Pop collects images of gedes!). Saturday, November 7 *Of course the Big Thing to Do in Miami Beach on Saturday is Sleepless Night. Admission to everything is free. *Femme Fest moves north for its second night, at Murphy's in Boca. Admission is $10. *Mixhell at White Room in Miami tonight. We gave you a free new mix, and a full interview. Cover is a very reasonable $10. Do it. Sunday, November 8 *For the more adventurous among you, tonight there's some bluegrass played by crusty punks, courtesy of the Black Death All Stars, who are purposely from nowhere in particular. It's at the Firefly, one of those punk rock group house kinda places -- um, I'm pretty sure the only one in the 305 -- and admission is $5.
