Sink the 76ers
This is it — the final regular-season game of the 2013-14 NBA season. What have we learned from this past year? First, the two-time defending champions have once again rested too comfortably on their talents and pushed the limits of when they can win the top seed for the Eastern Conference. Second, LeBron James is still the greatest player in the NBA. And last, Chris “Birdman” Andersen looks impossibly creepier as a Day-Glo mountain man.
All of that aside, this team needs to be celebrated, especially because there is an incredibly remote chance that the entire Three Kings era could come to a horribly sad end this summer. That’s why the NBA delivered the Philadelphia 76ers as the Miami Heat’s final game of the season. Revel as LeBron throws down massive alley-oops, Chris Bosh roars like a dinosaur, and Dwyane Wade roots from the bench while icing his knees in preparation for what promises to be a difficult postseason.
Relish another year of greatness, and cheer Miami’s favorite team to another championship. The two teams meet Wednesday at 8 p.m. at American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). Tickets cost $25 to $360. Visit heat.com or call 786-777-1000.
