Singing of the Rah-Rah Sisterhood
Ladies, its time to get over it. Stop saying all of your friends are guys because you dont get along with other girls. Yes, you must be wary of backstabbing bitches, but then again, half of your male friends probably stick around cause theyd like to upgrade to a with benefits package. Fortunately the all-female collective She Said is flying the flag of sisterhood and putting an end to all of this girl-on-girl abuse.
In the 16-plus-member group, theres no competition or cattiness -- just sweet music made by local female musicians of all different ages, ethnicities, and talents. Hear She Said play everything from Latin rhythms to folksy Americana tonight at the sister-owned Mama Lilas Bistro for its Tunes and Tapas music series. This performance will feature group founder and blues goddess Michelle Forman with flutist Ligia Cabrera, bassist Ariadna Barbe-Villa, and drummer Nadedi Osorio (of A.K.A. fame). The show runs from 8:00 to 11:00. Admission is free, but theres a $10 minimum check per person.
Thu., Oct. 18, 8-11 p.m., 2007
