She’s Crafty

Rosie O’Donnell is what some media-savvy types might call “a polarizing figure.” Brash, bold, and blatant in her opinions, O’Donnell is seen by some folks as a loudmouthed troublemaker who gets headlines by speaking her truth and slinging arrows at the likes of Donald Trump, Barbara Walters, and Star Jones. Others admire the softer side of Rosie — the side that writes haikus on her popular blog, puts together her annual gay family cruise, and does anything for kids. We love both faces of the Miami resident, outspoken celeb, and eternal maternal “Queen of Nice.” It’s the second Rosie whom people will be coming out to meet and take photos with at Books & Books.

O’Donnell’s latest book, Crafty U, features an entire summer’s worth of projects for parents and their little ones. There’s seasonal stuff — bunny piñatas for Easter, scary costumes for Halloween — and anytime projects including decoupage, sand art, and tie-dye. The book has been garnering raves from stay-at-home moms and teachers looking for class projects, and at a special autographing session at 2 p.m., you can tell Rosie how much you loved making the paper flowers while she signs your wrinkled A League of Their Own poster. You must purchase a copy of Crafty U at Books & Books in order to join the signing line.
