Save Room for Dessert
I never would have thought that a sports bar could serve a tasty specialty martini. But after downing countless beers and bloody marys at the neighborhood pub with my friend J-Dog, I decided to see if the Flanitini at Flanigans (check the Website for other locations) lived up to the hype. It is a sweet drink that will not mix well with curly fries, blackened dolphin, or a Tumbleweed Onion, but because the holidays are all about having dessert whenever the hell you feel like it, go ahead and splurge. A mix of vodka (your choice, but you really wont be able to taste the difference between Grey Goose and Skol in this concoction), Godiva chocolate liqueur, Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, Baileys Irish Cream, and half-and-half is shaken and served in a caramel-drizzled and chocolate-sugar-rimmed martini glass. I savored its cozy scent of chocolate milk before I took the first sip. Sweet? Yes, but also quite delicious and comforting, even if it feels a bit girly to be swilling such a fancy cocktail while the gin-blossomed regulars are slamming scotch-and-waters. The drink will set you back $5.99; $2.99 during happy hour (4:00 to 7:00 weekdays).
Starts: Dec. 12. Daily, 2006
