Rookies to the Rescue
Some observers have said Florida Marlins outfielder Mike Stanton could give Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg a run for his money in the NL Rookie of the Year race. Basically, Stanton is a mountain of five-tool awesomeness. He can hit 500-foot home runs and throw out runners with the accuracy of a heat-seeking missile. However, the Fish have another Rookie of the Year candidate in the less glamorous yet equally amazing Gaby Sanchez. All season long, the 26-year-old first baseman has been killing them softly with 11 home runs, 44 RBIs, 23 doubles, and a stellar .304 average. Meanwhile, the St. Louis Cardinals come into town with another top rookie, pitcher Jaime Garcia. Theres no word on whether Garcia will throw in this series, but you can bet Gaby will wreck some redbird pitchers either way. The Marlins host the Cardinals at Sun Life Stadium.
