The RAWards is no Miss Congeniality contest. There’s no room for shallow, superficial girls and boys here. It’s all about Miami’s best untapped talent in film, photography, and hairstyling — talent that’s about to get its due.
At this Thursday’s RAWards semifinal showcase, sponsored by the arts organization RAW: Natural Born Artists, the fanciest designs and most fabulous hairstyles will be yours to see and judge at the Stage (170 NE 38th St., Miami).
The fourth annual RAWards is a national competition hosted in more than 50 U.S. cities, including New York, Denver, and Madison, Wisconsin. The winners of each local showcase qualify for RAW’s national awards in December. In January, the national winners will display their work in a Hollywood, California showcase.
Up to five artists in each category will show their work at this year’s final Miami showcase. And along with the judges, audience members get a say in who wins.
Thu., Nov. 8, 7 p.m., 2012
