Raw Fish and Giggles
Stand-up comedy is arguably the most challenging art form. It puts one comic with a single microphone in front of an audience that demands freshness in commentary, all under some glaringly bright stage lights. Any comedian will admit those lights can be blinding, especially if their set is bombing. They’ll also tell anyone willing to listen that the key is practice, and constant refining, which is why it’s not surprising that yet another open-mike comedy night has started at Moonchine (7100 Biscayne Blvd., Miami), hosted by Miami’s clown prince, Daniel Reskin.
Though other open mikes are typically booked with lesser-known acts, Reskin promises Comedy Nights Live at Moonchine will be a true open mike. Along with unknowns, there’s always the chance of well-known Miami underground comedians dropping by to work on their sets as well. Plus, the show, which runs from 7 to 9 p.m., is squeezed between Moonchine’s happy hour and Roots Rock Reggae night. This all goes on for no cover and free parking. Oh, not to mention Moonchine is a sushi restaurant, so there’s good grub too. Visit moonchine.com or call 305-759-3999.
