Prepare for the Invasion
At the turn of the millennium, the United States found itself on the brink of invasion a Latin invasion. For Miamians, it was already passé, but imagine the horror of an Arkansas mother cooking mac n cheese in the kitchen while her children watched Ricky Martin gyrate in leather pants on television. An invasion! Aaahhh! Tacos and burritos! What kinds of names are these for pop stars? Enrique Iglesias? Shakira? Even former Mouseketeers and guys named Marc Anthony are making albums in Spanish!
But in this day and age, my fellow Americans, we find ourselves on the brink of a new invasion an Indian invasion! Bum-bum-bum!
Coordinated by White Castle-hunting Kumar and ultra-famous Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan (think Tom Hanks, Jason Statham, and Seth Rogen all wrapped into one), the invasion hit full stride with Slumdog Millionaire, which everyone seems to agree was like, OMG, the best movie of 2008. Poor people = Oscars 4Lyfe. Then there was also that song Paper Planes by M.I.A. shes Indian too, right? Right? Cmon! High five? High five! Aziz Ansari will be doing his part for the invasion this Saturday at the Miami Improv, throwing joke bombs in your face like a samosa fight. Food joke!
