Madonnas recent return to incorporating religious icons into her art outraged Catholics worldwide (again) and had British police threatening arrest. But 45 years ago, Spanish director Luis Buñuel really pissed off his countrys government and the Vatican with his film Viridiana. The 1961 art house flick tells the story of altruistic wannabe nun, Viridiana (Silvia Pinal), whose rape forces her to leave the convent and open a shelter for morally corrupt vagrants who subsequently take over.
