One Tight Aperture
Like most photographers, Jeremiah Jenner received his first camera at a young age and fell in love with the process of capturing an object exactly how he sees it in that brief moment in time. But he also had the luxury of growing up in Rochester, New York -- the home of the Eastman Kodak Company. [I] spent a lot of time at the George Eastman House and was always taking tours of the Kodak plants to see how film and cameras were made, says Jenner, whose photographs range from droplets of water on the fender of a bicycle to neon signs. He describes his new works as more literal than abstract, although the images still embody his signature style of being deliberately shaken or shot out of focus. Everything is shot on film with old Nikon cameras, says Jenner. I pride myself on being a film photographer.
Jenners solo exhibition, Tandem, opens tonight at the Loft Gallery in the Vine Wine Shop. The reception takes place from 8:00 to 10:00 and includes a winetasting.
