No Passport Needed
God bless America and its long weekends. Sure, we dont get monthlong holidays like our brethren across the pond, but weve grown to appreciate the little gifts our government gives us. So what if the entire country is forced to vacation on the same weekend? So what if the laws of supply and demand guarantee this weekend will be hell on our pockets but a boost to our lagging economy? Okay, yeah, it gets us a little depressed too where are the laughs when we need them? Huh? At the James L. Knight Center?
As long as Bruce Bruce brings his oversize bag of self-deprecating fat jokes, well be front and center. If queens of comedy Sommore and Melanie Camacho promise to insult every female in the room while Lavell Crawford skewers the men, consider our schedule cleared for the Memorial Weekend Comedy Festival. Were looking forward to an equal-opportunity offensive evening of hilarity. But whos going to roast our fair city? Homeboy Marvin Dixon is here to the Miami-dissing rescue. Whew. The show starts at 8 p.m.
Sun., May 25, 8 p.m., 2008
