We can thank Dubyas inability to balance the nations checkbook for the term recessionista. We were fine with frugal and could even rock with tightwad or cheapskate if necessary, but the advent of the R-word took the power away from the only kind of ista we really want to be a fashionista. So quit pinching those pennies and drop a few bucks at the Webster Boutique. This three-story shop, which once occupied a smaller space on Collins, has a new permanent location that is a 20,000-square-foot haven for fashion, hawking the best in mens and womens ready-to-wear, accessories, and sportswear. This Mondays grand reopening will also fete Brit jewelry designer Solange Azagury-Partridge and her funky confections that are meant to lace your fingers, neck, wrists, or earlobes.
Suze Orman might tell you to window-shop and take advantage of the free drinks (try the Webster cocktail, a mix of vodka, champagne, Cointreau, violets, and pearls); we say forget about your troubles for one night you cant take it with you when you die, anyway. Meet us there and bring your checkbook. The fashionista fun happens between 7 and 9 p.m. RSVP is required.
