During Cubas golden age, the islands Carnival season drew multitudes into the streets for a raucous celebration that delivered revelers to the outer limits of joy. Entire neighborhoods and fraternal organizations rehearsed for months. Elaborate parade floats were created for the giddy affair. Families made the rounds in their snazzy convertibles. Snaking through the streets, conga lines would sway to seductive drum rhythms until dawn. Beginning Friday at 11 a.m., CubaNostalgia continues its love affair with the past, celebrating its 10th anniversary with a tribute to the Carnavales of yesteryear. Beam back to the sultry motherland at this exhibit commemorating the islands independence day. It runs through Sunday at the Fair-Expo Center. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Call 305-856-7595, or visit www.cubanostalgia.org.
