Mama Said Rock You Out
Every good fight deserves a good soundtrack, and bonus points if you throw in some good barbecue. Luckily, Tobacco Road (626 S. Miami Ave., Miami) is bringing you the holy trifecta with the exciting Knock’n’Roll event going down Saturday.
Thump Fight Gym, which bills itself as South Florida’s premier fight gym and fitness center, will have your blood pumping when it brings the brawl to life. Some of its top boxers will duke it out while you enjoy some delectable eats, and everyone knows watching a fight can make you mighty hungry.
Even if violence isn’t your scene, there’s plenty of sweet music to lure you in. Headlining sets include the Lee Boys and Zach Deputy, two soulful Southern acts that will have you burning off that pulled-pork sandwich on the dance floor in no time. Deputy will have you bouncing to his self-described “island-infused drum ’n’ bass gospel ninja soul,” and the Lee Boys are good-ol’ Miami locals specializing in steel-guitar soul you’ll be feelin’ in your bones.
It’s an all-ages event fun enough for the whole family, kicking off at 6 p.m. and running until midnight. Tickets cost $10. Call 305-374-1198, or visit tobacco-road.com.
