Like Father, Like Son
Its both maddeningly unreal and oddly respectful: Since his fathers death, Tito Puente Jr. has been touring the country, entertaining audiences with El Reys plethora of tuneskis accrued over decades of playing. Can Sean Lennon play his dads music and get away with it? Perhaps a man cant choose his family, or his destiny, and we suppose theres a whole gaggle of Hank Williamses out there.
Nevertheless, this Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Magic City Casino, Puente will jam out his fathers songs, and if youre not a fan, you can at least go inside and play the Kitty Glitter slot machines (senior citizens discount!). But Tito Puentes music played by his son, greyhounds chasing a fake bone around a track, busloads of retirees, and two-dollar hot dogs? How can you pass this up? Tickets cost $30 to $25 for club level and free for upper deck.
