Lets See a Movie About Rain and Singing
If there were to be only one film title to sum up Miami, thered be a tie between last years Oscar fave, Slumdog Millionaire (a nod to our bling-worshipping culture), and Singin in the Rain (for obvious umbrella-related reasons). Since we cant let anyone know just how red our bank account has gotten lately, well pick the weather-related Gene Kelly flick that tells how silent films made way for the noisy blockbusters we know and love and shell out ten bucks a pop to see.
This Saturday night, as a part of the Spa at Icon Brickells Classic Movie series, watch how 50s hoofers boogied in near-hurricane conditions. You wont have to weather the elements in the theater, because plush couches, gourmet cupcakes, champagne, and 30 of your closest friends will be on hand to, um, protect you. But if youve never sung in the rain, well, youre missing out on the quintessential Miami experience. This $12 evening out wont break the bank, so feel free to belt out some post-recession tunes next time the meteorologist predicts more of the wet-wet. The movie begins at 7:30 p.m., and reservations are required.
