Let Me Take A Selfie
Social media: It’s a narcissist’s art. It’s a worthless pastime. It’s for self-indulgent photos of the food you’re about to eat, the unremarkable cat you own, and, of course, the plague of modern society — the selfie. That, at least, is what any stubborn old Luddite will tell you about social media. But forging and maintaining relationships online isn’t just a hobby anymore; it’s a business that helps us run our lives. It can make or break any company, big or small. And it’s damn near inescapable. You can’t beat ’em, so you might as well join ’em at Social Media Day 2014. The conference takes your online relationships into the “real” world (not that connections forged via computer are necessarily any less real) in cities across the globe, including Miami this Sunday at the Adrienne Arsht Center (1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). More than 1,800 attendees are expected to show up to hear local experts on Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms speak about their modern craft, including leading local bloggers, advertising execs, and PR representatives.
Sun., June 29, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., 2014
