Laugh Till It Stops Hurting
Amid a deep recession, financial instability, and rising foreclosures, there is very little that seems funny these days. And that means it's a perfect time for a comedy show.
This Saturday at the James L. Knight Center, the annual Miami Nites Comedy Reunion will return to the stage with a lineup sure to provide some much-needed relief from the maelstrom. Miami-bred comedian, former radio personality, and promoter Marvin Dixon will once again be the host-with-the-most-jokes. Since 1994, Dixon has been making the rounds through the Atlanta-Miami circuit and has appeared on several national programs, including HBO's Def Jam Comedy, BET's Comic View, and The Tom Joyner Skyy Show. The evening will also include a performance by R&B sensation Ms. Row, followed by acts from up-and-coming comedians Hope Flood, Jay Lamont, Henry Welch, T.K. Kirkland, and Doo Doo Brown. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets cost $45 to $55.
Sat., Sept. 5, 8 p.m., 2009
