Coral Gables comes alive with the sound of music today. Start early with the Chopin Foundations Young Pianists Concert, where students ten to seventeen years old will enthrall audiences with skilled, youthful renditions of works by the classical music master. The free event starts at 3:00 p.m. at the Granada Presbyterian Church. People will get a wonderful interpretation of Chopins music; no piece is played twice, says Jadwiga Gewert, the events organizer and executive director. Teachers recommend the most talented, outstanding students able to play Chopin pieces on their level. Call 305-868-0624, or visit www.chopin.org.
The music continues tonight with An Evening of Baroque Music in the Garden House at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., but the music starts at 7:00 p.m. Seraphic Fire, under the direction of Patrick Dupré Quigley, will perform popular Baroque pieces. Those who might enjoy a pre-performance feast with their classy cultural experience should order a gourmet picnic basket from JoAnnas Marketplace (call 305-661-5777). The concert costs $60, and VIP tickets are $125. Call 305-667-1651, ext. 3358 or visit www.fairchildgarden.org.
