Everybody loves a fat guy. It could be the picnic tablecloth size of his Hawaiian shirt, it could be the disgustingly hilarious unbuttoning of his pants at the end of a good meal, or it could be the fact that owing to a lifetime of ridicule, the fat dude generally has a lot of perspective and sharp wit. Say you're a fat guy who decides to become a comedian. You can name yourself "Earthquake," "Boom Boom," or "Andy Richter" and get easy laughs. Or you can make jokes about how the word tsunami sounds like salami and the word Indonesia sounds like at her nieces, turning a terrible natural disaster into a wordy-gurdy mixup of eating cold cuts at your relative's house. That's the style of comedian Lavell Crawford, who will perform this Friday at 8:30 and 10 p.m. at the Miami Improv. Crawford has done Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central Presents, and BET's Comic View. For the strangely exact price of $23.45, you can watch Crawford tell jokes about riding Vespas around South Beach and listening to them cry out in pain.
