Daniel Reskin is beginning to make a strong case for being the purveyor of all things funny in Miami. The stand-up comedian’s initial impression on the Miami scene began on the stage, but a solo spotlight wasn’t enough for the talented funnyman. It didn’t take long before he was hosting Casa de Haha, one of Miami’s best night’s of local stand-up, housed in the city’s favorite record store, Sweat Records.
But even that wasn’t enough for Reskin, and the ever-enterprising entertainer now presents Casa Tonight. Though it’s difficult to know what weird twists will find their way into the show, we’re hoping for Reskin to play a Don Francisco-like hyperegotistical personality. Here’s a quick roundup of guests and segments to be featured opening night: an interview with local filmmaker Billy Corben, in-house music from Telekinetic Walrus’ Time Zookeeper, a comedian panel, and an appearance by Miami writer J.J. Colagrande. What exactly does it all mean for Reskin? We’re not sure yet, but it definitely isn’t too early to put him in the running for Miami’s Johnny Carson. The show is this Monday at Miami Light Project’s Light Box Theater (404 NW 26th St., Miami). Tickets cost $8 presale or $10 at the door. Visit casadehaha.com.
