Holiday Hoop Dreams
Udonis Haslem has a great local-boy-made-good story. The 26-year-old forward from Liberty City worked hard to make it from the trenches of French professional basketball back into the NBAs good graces, and last season Haslem made his hometown especially proud. The blingtastic NBA Championship ring hes sporting nowadays is the stuff that jewelry lovers dreams are made of. Tonight at 6:00, Haslem will help to make more important dreams come true. Locally based King Jewelers will celebrate its 95th anniversary by hosting a special fundraising event. Guests can sip cocktails and savor delectable hors d'oeuvres while mingling with Haslem and the Miami Heats ubiquitous DJ Irie. A silent auction will place exclusive watches and fine jewelry up for grabs. Admission is $50 at the door, and patrons are asked to donate a new unwrapped toy. All of tonights proceeds will benefit the Udonis Haslem Childrens Foundation. Call 305-935-4900, or visit www.kings1912.com.
