Hitch on Himself
An intellectual snark of the highest order, Christopher Hitchens has been waterboarded by ski-masked U.S. torture trainers for the pages of Vanity Fair. He wrote a book with the very PC title God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything. He called Margaret Thatcher "surprisingly sexy" and Ronald Reagan "a regular, habitual liar." Now he rips into the only taboo subject still untouched: Christopher Hitchens.
This Monday at 7:30 p.m., the author, columnist, and Oxford alum will read from his new memoir, Hitch-22. Over the course of 256 pages, he details his own teenage experiments with gay sex, draws out the intricacies of his support for the Iraq War, and even dishes on his ex-classmate Bill Clinton's cannabis habit. "He preferred, like many another marijuana enthusiasts," Hitchens writes, "to take his dope in the form of large handfuls of cookies and brownies."
