Green Is the New Black
Its certainly not news that our continual misuse of natural resources has put our planet in danger. Weve all heard about sweating polar bears and football-field-size holes in the ozone, but learning the different ways to cure Mother Earths ills is a lesson we could all use. The Redland Evening Herb Society is joining forces with the Fruit & Spice Park to take us all to school and make green the new black. This Saturday and Sunday, head to 24801 SW 187th Ave. in Homestead for the Great Green Family Festival, a fete formed to educate everyone on the nuances of eco-friendly living at home, at work, and in the community as a whole. There will be classes on fair trade and conscious consumerism, a local and organic farmers market, and renewable energy seminars. But the weekend isnt totally about punishing us for our environmental sins; there will also be live music, relaxing aromatherapy and chair massages, and organic goodies to nibble on. Admission is six bucks, free for kids under 11.
