Gourmet For Good

Being hungry sucks. But being a starving child in need sucks even harder. So, what if we told you that by feeding your face with some exquisitely prepared food by some of Miami’s top chefs for one entire night, you could help abolish our nation’s childhood hunger? Because that’s what will happen this Tuesday at Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation. Local big-timers such as Sugarcane’s Timon Balloo and 25-year Taste of Nation veteran Allen Susser will call upon 50 powerhouse restaurants on the Miami scene to indulge all who seek the greater good of charity — in the form of fancy dinner fare. Not only will you be able to partake of dishes from the lineup of eateries docked at the Loews Miami Beach (1601 Collins Ave., Miami Beach), but you’ll also be able to two-step the night away to live entertainment. Giving back never felt so good. Of course, ain’t no party without a little auctioning. Giving the night’s attendees somewhere to throw their money, nonprofit Share Our Strength will host live, silent, and wine auctions. And after the gourmet shuffling and schmoozing comes the boozing at the Black and Blanco afterparty, where that subtle two-stepping turns into drunken hip-thrusting on the dance floor. Hey, what counts is that you’re helping the children, right?
