Get Caught in the Jam
Calling all artsy, high-brow, Miami cultural snobs: It’s time to get off your high horses and enjoy the raw, visceral pleasure of Monster Jam. Take your art walks, museum tours, and fancy cheese and wine nights; lock them in a 1987 Buick LeSabre; and run it all over with a 10,000-pound, 1,500-horsepower, half--animal, half--machine that breathes fire and reaches speeds in excess of 100 mph. Typically, South Florida enjoys multiple yearly Monster Jam appearances at the BB&T Center, but this Saturday’s show will be an extra-special full-arena experience at Sun Life Stadium (2269 NW 199th St., Miami Gardens). As opposed to the usual eight trucks, the jam will invade the stadium with more than 18 competitors — including Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, and Mohawk Warrior — plus an unstoppable mess of 12-foot-tall, iconic trucks that will leap up to 35 feet into the air and come crashing down to crush cars, vans, school buses, and any other man-made objects ripe for the smashing under six-foot tires. It’s enough to make any adult male giddy from the fumes. Tickets cost $20 to $42. Call 800--345--7000 or visit monsterjam.com.
