Few things inspire more debate among Miami foodies than the quintessential frita cubana. Take an informal poll and hear a whole host of different and equally passionate opinions about the city’s best. To answer the all-important question “Who has the best frita en el mundo?” Burger Beast launched the Frita Showdown.
In this Wednesday’s battle royale, five classic Cuban eateries will prepare their best beefy treats to impress discerning judges. They’ll eat their fill from Cuban Guys, El Mago de las Fritas, El Rey de las Fritas, Luis Galindo’s Latin American, and Sergio’s and then pick a big winner.
Attendees won’t be left out of the eating action. They’ll get to nosh on fritas from all five competitors, plus croquetas from Islas Canarias, ice cream from Azucar Ice Cream Company, desserts from Latin American Bakery & Café, and drinks galore (à la Materva and Jupiña). It’s a Cuban food extravaganza.
Tickets cost $40 per person and include one of each of the contestant’s frita cubanas plus soft drinks, beer, and desserts. There are only 175 tickets available, so act fast. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. at Magic City Casino (450 NW 37th Ave., Miami). Visit fritashowdown.com.
