Miami isnt exactly known as a farmers market stronghold. Most of the open air markets that exist are questionable at best. You can never really be certain whether the food you buy is edible, much less organic. But they do things with a bit more class in Pinecrest. And the Pinecrest Gardens Farmers Market located on the site of what used to be Parrot Jungle, is a prime example.
Locally certified organic growers are the norm, with five produce vendors, bakers, and even local honey-makers all present. For those who cant wait to get home before indulging in some tasty good stuff, there are prepared foods such as conch fritters, artisan breads, and hand-squeezed lemonade. Jewelry makers, local clothing retailers, and orchid growers round out the list of vendors. Dont worry about it getting too hot, the market is held in one of the most picturesque parking lots in all of Miami-Dade with banyan trees providing a cooling canopy. Pinecrest Gardensanother under-appreciated treasure is just steps away and perfect for a leisurely stroll after stocking up on a weeks worth of green groceries.
