Miami is getting its green on. No, it’s not some late St. Paddy’s Day celebration; it’s Sustainatopia, the annual eco-friendly festival that celebrates sustainability. With more than 40 art exhibits, films, food, parties, and conferences taking place, the entire city transforms into a hub of environmental friendliness. The multiday event covers just about every angle of earth-friendliness. In the name of all things artistic and wholesome, Kontempo Gallery (1646 SW Eighth St., Miami) is hosting the ARTcycle Silent Auction (7 to 10 p.m. this Friday) to benefit the Green Mobility Network and its Safe Streets Miami educational programs. The theme is bicycles and sustainability, so expect to see sculptures composed of scrap bike pieces scattered throughout the gallery. If nature is more of your environmental calling, the “Blue Sphere” exhibit (running through April 22) at Cafeina (297 NW 23rd St., Miami) is showcasing nature-inspired sculptures, paintings, and installations made from sustainable and recycled materials. All of that art might leave you feeling hungry. Have a dinner experience you can feel good about at Sacred Space’s (105 NE 24th St., Miami) monthly dinner series, Conscious Bite Out (7:30 p.m. Friday). Held in conjunction with Sustainatopia, the dinner will feature culinary genius Todd Webster creating a four-course meal of locally and organically grown food, along with a sampling of organic wine. Aside from doing your body good, you’ll be benefiting the Peace4Kids foundation. After dinner, head to the Shore Club (1901 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) to watch Models for Sustainability (10 p.m. Friday) strut their stuff on the runway for an eco-friendly fashion show benefiting Urban Greenworks.
