Dog Days of Summer
Nothing says all-American summertime fun like a good old-fashioned ball game. And this Sunday, you can partake in this classic pastime with the whole family in tow — furry friends included. Bark at the Park is back, and 100 percent of the proceeds from ticket sales to this annual event benefit the no-kill Humane Society of Greater Miami. Basically, you can bring man’s best friend out to the ball game to mix, mingle, and nosh on peanuts — just like dad (or mom). The Marlins will play the Cleveland Indians, so show some 305 pride. Don’t want to support evil Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria? Think of it this way: The Fish have been so terrible this season that buying a ticket to their costly, air-conditioned stadium is kind of like benefiting two charities at once. The game kicks off at 1:10 p.m. at Marlins Park (501 NW 16th Ave., Miami). Tickets cost $15 for humans and $10 for canines via marlins.com. Only well-behaved pooches on leashes, please.
Aug. 2-4, 1:10 & 7:10 p.m., 2013
