For the third year in a row, the dancers of Dance Now! will interact with art at the Bass Museum (2121 Park Ave., Miami Beach) for The Ekphrasis Project: Art From Art. The name Ekphrasis references the Greek word to describe a dramatic expression of a visual work, but it has become synonymous with one art form expressing another. The specific moves that the dancers will express around the current exhibits won’t be revealed until the performances this Sunday at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. But we can get a hint from last year. One piece revolved around an ancient artwork, a crucifixion alter from the 17th Century; another took on the challenging interpretation of a contemporary installation from a local duo. This year, the dancers might move around the Egyptian Gallery or in the section of the museum that’s exhibiting a mixture of art from the Middle Ages and works from today, including those by the likes of Ana Mendieta and Michele Oka Doner.
